Don't Look Down On Them Tampons!

Tampons in Iraq: A life Saved

Don't worry, it's a good story - and worth reading - it's even humorous in [some] parts.

It's from the mother of a Marine in Iraq.

She writes:"My son told me how wonderful the care packages we had sent them wereand wanted me to tell everyone thank you. He said that one guy we'llcall Marine X, got a girl care package and everyone was giving him ahard time. My son said, 'Marine X got some really nice smelling lotionand everyone really likes it, so every time he goes to sleep they steal it from him.'

I told my son I was really sorry about the mistake, and ifhe wanted I would send Marine X another package. He told me not to worryabout Marine X because every time I send something to him, Marine X thinks it's for him too.

He said when my husband and I sent the last care package, Marine X came over to his cot picked up the box, started fishing through it, and said, 'What'd we get this time?' "

"My son said they had the most fun with Marine X's package. He said he wasn't sure who we were sending the pack to, but the panties were size 20, and he said one of the guys got on top of the Humvee and jumped off with the panties over his head and yelled, 'Look at me, I'm an Airborne Ranger!!!' (This is so like a scene out of Jarhead - DPimp)

One of the guys attached the panties to an antenna and it blew in the wind like a windsock. He said it entertained them for quite a while. Then of course, they had the tampons.""When he brought this up my imagination just went running, but he continued: My son said they had to go on a mission and Marine X wanted the Chapstick and lotion for the trip.

He grabbed a bunch of the itemsfrom his care package and got in the Humvee. As luck would have it hegrabbed the tampons too, and my son said everyone was teasing him about,'not forgetting his feminine hygiene products.' "

"He said things went well for a while, then the convoy was ambushed and a Marine was shot. He said the wound was pretty clean, but it was deep.He said they were administering first aid but couldn't get the bleedingto slow down, and someone said, 'Hey use Marine X's tampons.'

My son said they put the tampon in the wound. At this point my son profoundly told me, 'Mom did you know that tampons expand?' ""Well, yeah!""They successfully slowed the bleeding until the guy got better medical attention.

When they went to check on him later the surgeon told them,'You guys saved his life. If you hadn't stopped that bleeding he would have bled to death.' My son said, 'Mom, the tampons sent by the Marine's mom by mistake saved a Marine's life.' "

"At this point I asked him, 'Well what did you do with the rest of the tampons?' He said, 'Oh, we divided them up and we all have them in ourflak jackets, and I kept two for our first aid kit.' ""I am absolutely amazed by the ingenuity of our Marines, and can't believe that something that started out as a mistake, then turned into a joke, ended up saving someone's life.

My sister said she doesn't believe in mistakes. She believes God had a plan all along. She believes that female care package was sent to Marine X to save our Marine."

"Either way, our efforts have boosted the morale of many Marines, provided much needed items for our troops, AND saved the life of aMarine!

God bless every one of you for your efforts and hard work, and God bless our Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, and everyone.

"GOD BLESS AMERICA AND KEEP IT SAFE!"

Masterforce!

One of the anime series that truly made an impact on me during my primary school days was not He-Man, Care Bears, Starcom, M.A.S.K or even the almighty Visionaries (although I still remembered them very well) but rather a little known Japanese Transformers series known as Masterforce.

Little wonder because it was only shown on RTM 2 if I recalled correctly (Mediacorp or SBC then has already started to suck, especially in its cartoon palatte). I would religiously wake up every Sunday morning to feast my eyes on the Japanese drawn Transformers and in my mind, I knew where my allegiances lie. The American version was badly dranw and most of the time badly animated but not so the Jap ones.

Masterforce featured one of my heroes, Optimus Prime, although in the series he was not really Prime himself (otherwise known as Convoy in Japan) but rather a character named Ginrai.

Why, you ask?

You gotta watch this bumper video to find out.

Anyway, I am such a fan of Optimus that currently I already own three of him in varying sizes including a very battered God Ginrai (okay, okay, it's also called Powermaster Optimus Prime in the States). The other 2 are a 150 buck 20th Anniversary Prime and a Takara mini Prime piece measuring no less than 20cm, transformable and setting me back by more than 100 bucks.

The 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime which I have to settle for the 150 dollar Hasbro version because its cheaper than the Takara one with steel steam pipes. Hasbro's version is plastic and Prime comes with ugly burnt marks. Yucks, but oh well.

The Takara THS-02 Optimus Prime! Comes with trailer, changeable hands, Energon axe, blasters, mini cab and jet pack etc etc in its less than 20cm frame! AND its fucking transformable loh! It's my fave piece especially when you consider that this is one of the last Transformer figurines to come out of Takara before its merger with Tomy.

The ultra-poseable Revoltech Optimus Prime costing about 32 dollars at Rapid Culture in Cineleisure. I love my Transformers super poseable because the G1 stuff were all huge chunks of immobile plastic (my poor Powermaster Optimus Prime was one of them). Toy making technology now sure blows me away these days. :)

And for nostalgia, my Powermaster Optimus Prime that I pestered my dad to buy (a huge gift considering how expensive Transformer toys were in our heady 80s days.) Think I got it as a birthday gift but too bad now I have lost the little Powermaster figurine and poor Prime himself is pretty battered coz of age. This one in the picture is pretty well-maintained. :)

LOL, the wife can surely attest to my geekery when it came to Prime himself. In fact, I am looking to buy this ultra-poseable Prime figure that will cost 32 dollars as well as the movie adaptation (over 90 bucks) if I am mad enough, haha!

Of course, if the Moonies wanna get it for me, I will be overjoyed! Really! *hint hint

Talking of the latest Transformer craze, I am a little miffed by how Prime and the other G1 Transformers look (OMG, what happened to Bumblebee!!!!) in the upcoming Michael Bay film as I feel that they are all over-designed, I will still watch it for the fandom and....for Peter Cullen!

Yes, Peter WAS the guy behind Prime's voice in the American cartoons and seeing his name leaked in the credits months before sets my very otaku blood on fire.

How Could You?

A man in Grand Rapids, Michigan took out a full page ad in the paper to present the following essay to the people of our community. It really touched my heart and I hope it will yours too.

When I was a puppy, I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child, and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, age I became your best friend. Whenever I was ”bad,” you’d shake your finger at me and ask “How could you?”-but then you’d relent, and roll me over for a belly rub.

My housebreaking took a little longer than expected, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. I remember those nights of nuzzling you in bed and listening to your confidences and secret dreams, and I believed that life could not be any more perfect. We went for long walks and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only got the cone because “ice cream is bad for dogs,” you said), and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day.

Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on your career, and more time searching for a human mate. I waited for you patiently, comfort you through heartbreaks and disappointments, never chided you about bad decisions, and romped with glee at your homecomings, and when you fell in love. She, now your wife, is not a “dog person”-still I welcomed her into our home, tried to show her affection, and obeyed her. I was happy because you were happy.

Then the human babies came along and I shared your excitement. I was fascinated by their pinkness, how they smelled, and I wanted to mother them, too. Only she and you worried that I might hurt them, and I spent most of my time banished to another room, or to a dog crate. Oh, how I wanted to love them, but I became a “prisoner of love.”

As they began to grow, I became their friend. They clung to my fur and pulled themselves up on wobbly legs, poked fingers in my eyes, investigated my ears, and gave me kisses on my nose. I loved everything about them and their touch-because your touch was now so infrequent-and I would have defended them with my life if need be. I would sneak into their beds and listen to their worries and secret dreams, and together we waited for the sound of your car in the driveway.

There had been a time, when others asked you if you had a dog, that you produced a photo of me from your wallet and told them stories about me.

These past few years, you just answered “yes” and changed the subject. I had gone from being “your dog” to “just a dog,” and you resented every expenditure on my behalf.

Now, you have a new career opportunity in another city, and you and they will be moving to an apartment that does not allow pets. You’ve made the right decision for your “family,” but there was a time when I was your only family. I was excited about the car ride until we arrived at the animal shelter. It smelled of dogs and cats, of fear, of hopelessness. You filled out the paperwork and said “I know you will find a good home for her.”

They shrugged and gave you a pained look. They understand the realities facing a middle-aged dog, even one with “papers.” You had to pry your son’s fingers loose from my collar as he screamed “No, Daddy! Please don’t let them take my dog!” And I worried for him, and what lessons you had just taught him about friendship and loyalty, about love and responsibility, and about respect for all life. You gave me a good-bye pat on the head, avoided my eyes, and politely refused to take my collar and leash with you. You had a deadline to meet and now I have one, too.

After you left, the two nice ladies said you probably knew about your upcoming move months ago and made no attempt to find me another good home.

They shook their heads and asked “How could you?”

They are as attentive to us here in the shelter as their busy schedules allow. They feed us, of course, but I lost my appetite days ago. At first, whenever anyone passed my pen, I rushed to the front, hoping it was you- that you had changed your mind-that this was all a bad dream … or I hoped it would at least be someone who cared, anyone who might save me.

When I realized I could not compete with the frolicking for attention of happy puppies, oblivious to their own fate, I retreated to a far corner and waited.

I heard her footsteps as she came for me at the end of the day, and I padded along the aisle after her to a separate room. A blissfully quiet room.

She placed me on the table and rubbed my ears, and told me not to worry. My heart pounded in anticipation of what was to come, but there was also a sense of relief. The prisoner of love had run out of days. As is my nature, I was more concerned about her.

The burden which she bears weighs heavily on her, and I know that, the same way I knew your every mood. She gently placed a tourniquet around my foreleg as a tear ran down her cheek. I licked her hand in the same way I used to comfort you so many years ago. She expertly slid the hypodermic needle into my vein. As I felt the sting and the cool liquid coursing through my body, I lay down sleepily, looked into her kind eyes and murmured “How could you?”

Perhaps because she understood my dogspeak, she said “I’m so sorry.” She hugged me, and hurriedly explained it was her job to make sure I went to a better place, where I wouldn’t be ignored or abused or abandoned, or have to fend for myself-a place of love and light so very different from this earthly place. And with my last bit of energy, I tried to convey to her with a thump of my tail that my “How could you?” was not directed at her.

It was you, My Beloved Master, I was thinking of. I will think of you and wait for you forever.
May everyone in your life continue to show you so much loyalty?

By Jim Willis 2001

A note from the author: If “How Could You?” brought tears to your eyes as you read it, as it did to mine as I wrote it, it is because it is the composite story of the millions of formerly owned pets who die each year in American and Canadian animal shelters. Anyone is welcome to distribute the essay for a non-commercial purpose, as long as it is properly attributed with the copyright notice.

Please use it to help educate, on your websites, in newsletters, on animal shelter and vet office bulletin boards. Tell the public that the decision to add a pet to the family is an important one for life, that animals deserve our love and sensible care, that finding another appropriate home for your animal is your responsibility and any local humane society or animal welfare league can offer you good advice, and that all life is precious. Please do your part to stop the killing, and encourage adoption.

Do You Remember 阿凡提?

Hell, does anyone still remember this character called Affendi (阿凡提)who we all read about way back in Primary School? He always appeared in the mandarin textbooks last time as far as I recall.

Affendi is this Arabian smartpants who enjoys ridiculing the rich and righting wrongs for the downtrodden and his stories, like Aesop's Fables, always had a message at the end; though sometimes they may not be immediately apparent.

England Translation:

One day, Affendi's wife was dressing up to attend a wedding. However she had NO idea what to wear. After much effort, she managed to narrow down to a few choices and after which, she asked Affendi, "Which do you think I should wear?"

"Well, if you have worn this one, you would surely end up not being happy with your choice and so will the other. Why don't you just wear EVERYTHING?" (Imagine Affendi in a dead pan expression)

Hilarious la, and yet still so timely and typical of women. Haha!

Here's another:

England Translation:

One day, the King and five of his retainers appeared at Affendi's inn for a meal which consisted a egg pancakes.

"Affendi! Look, I am filled now and will need to continue on my hunting session. How much was the meal?" asked the king.

"That would be a thousand gold pieces, Your Majesty."

"Fwah! So expensive? Your town short of eggs is it?" asked the flustered king.

"Far from it. Instead it's about you, oh King, if I have charged you any less, would it not do injustice to your esteemed position?

LOL!

No Sex Please, We Are Singaporeans!

The recent media furore over the sale of an unwrapped graphic novel (I shudder to use the term "comic book" because idiots out there will misconstrue it as something that's for kids, bloody hell) that featured adult content in a kid's section during the Book Fair which ended some days back has got me thinking. Seriously, the dyslexicpimp is capable of fathoming serious issues here.

LOL :D

Anyhow, the start of the matter was some girl saw the book being sold AND read by a couple of pre-pubescent individuals and got suitably appalled enough to alert the authorities about it.

Wrong move, girl friend.

This is Singapore, or have you forgotten??

We are the people who pride in doing everything with abject unsubtlety and we are also the ones guilty of the bloody NUTS syndrome all the way to the top.

If something does not agree with a pre-mediated and pre-set category, we get it out of our system without even a second thought.

The same happened to the graphic novel entitled, "How To Make Money Like A Porn Star" (the title alone will definitely set some idiots on fire in MDA without even taking a closer look at the book, that's for sure).

It got banned.

Yes, the same treatment the poor chewing gum got.

Why?

Because banning is easy. Banning is the penultimate display of power. Banning simply asks for the matter at hand to disappear and hopefully the airheads of the peasants which are your typical Singaporean will forget come the next unsavory media flavor of the month.

That's why I hate living here.

Let's not talk about the damn tomfoolery that's NS which wasted my time and the time of many others.

Let's instead talk about the utterly conventional, "kiasee"and high-handed mentality that the Singaporean management has for Singapore Inc.

We are just not prepared to be a world class place despite ourselves boasting of world class facilities because most of our people (especially the ones at the top) do NOT have world class sensibilities and faculties to see things beyond what it is.

Take this porn book debacle as a base.

To our loving Big Brother, this IS porn (why, because see, it's showing all the woman bits and explicit scenes). And as we are all taught since the good old PAP kindergarten days, porn is baaaad.

Baaaaaad

And what is baaaad gets baaaaned!!! (Shuddup, the rest of you, voices of dissent, I swear the ISA will get you someday.)

And thanks to this storm in a teacup, the NLB gets implicated because some fucking parent reported that her kid is reading some ultra-violent comic that seems to be freely accessible in the library.

And the result is all too predictable. The comic gets pulled.

And if that's not enough, reputable bookstores like Kino (which shrink-wraps their stuff) and Borders get the shite as well. The comic in question is also not available anymore.

See lah, now other mature readers like ME won't be able to read these fine stories simply because the prude parents of impressionable minds are ruining it for the rest of us!

Good game, Singapore.

Now I am all for protecting our young minds, don't get me wrong, but why extend the ban stick in such a way that ruins the day for everyone?

Parents, please PLEASE PLEASE, regulate your kids! Don't leave it to your beloved Men in White to do it. You brought the kid to the world, you take charge. If your darn offspring is reading or watching something you don't think is good for them, get them away from it and teach them about it. Not go out and wriggled your fingers at some service targetted at the general public and blame them for not policing these materials for you!

Hell, you do it for the poisonous stuff in the house right, then why not for literature and the rest of the media??

That's fucking lazy parenthood.

And to you, the gahmen, is it also because you guys are too lazy in your cushy Civil Service positions and freaking 2 - 3 months bonus and other freaking privileges to even want to delve deeper into the matter and solve it at its roots? Like maybe you know, shrink-wrapping the adult stuff and placing it where the kids cannot get them. Hey, you are part of a world class and capable government you know, right? RIGHT?

I know this entry won't change anything but it just gives me yet another reason to leave this island which I am thinking of doing so for the longest time.

So what for safety, stability and shit that they keep harping about during those passioned NDP bullcrap?

Give me sanity, fairness and a place that lets people think for themselves.

Singapore is seriously lacking these.

Feeding the Multitudes

Last Friday saw the Wife and I on our way home from Bishan after a church group gathering when we stumbled on not one but three cute kittens living in a drain together with their mother.

One was jet black, the other a mixture of black and white and the last one was totally grey.

We estimated that they were no more than a month old and extremely skinny at that.

Which is kind of a no-brainer since the three were strays and have no real access to regular feeding times.

Was tempted to catch the grey one but it was really feral and hissed whenever I got too near.

As it was late and we had nothing on us to make them feel better, we decided to come back the next day - with food, since Nerma's food is being left uneaten anyway, which is sad.

***

Saturday came.

After a silly IPPT session which I failed - for the second week running (haha, no pun intended), we made our way to Bishan to attempt to locate the felines. And boy were they elusive because they were NOWHERE to be found where we saw them the night before.

So we patroled...and patroled...AND patroled some more!

I think we roughly wound around the blocks for over two hours and still there were no signs of them.

I remembered mouthing a prayer for their safety when we finally caught sight of a stray cat that looked vaguely like the mother cat near a rubbish collection house.

But no, wrong cat.

However, we fed it anyway with the food that we brought. It was quite sad to see them gobbling up the food and all the while trying to remain wary of us and the surroundings even though there wasn't any sign of clear and present danger. Such is the life of a stray I guess.

Then we moved on to search for the cats and found ourselves in the multi-storey carpark where we were literally leaving no cars "unturned" as we looked under every one of them to see if the mother and her brood were hiding underneath.

No luck.

But we did find a black, scabby stray and a rather plump (we suspected it is a house cat left to roam) one which we promptly fed as well. Same reactions to the food and also the same, unrelenting fear of the environment.

Sigh.

Just when we were giving up (we even went back to the rubbish house to feed the first stray we saw a few more times), we spotted the little furry darlings and they were hidden in a drain near where we saw them last night!!!

The drain functioned like some Vietcong hideout for them since it's exceptionally hard to spot them if you are not trying and difficult to get at them since the gratings were soldered together and hard to get off. And dun even think about reaching in to grab them because the openings are just too darn narrow.

So what we did was fill the paper box that the Wife always makes at home with good old Science Diet pellets, rattled the box and placed it outside the bunker like peepholes and THEN backed off.

Obviously, the kittens heard AND smelt the food coz after a few wary minutes they squeezed through the narrow gaps and munched on the pellets.

It was gratifying and really satisfying. For the first time, the Wife and I agreed that this was a really meaningful way to spend a weekend as we enjoyed the void deck breeze and watched the cats eat.

After an hour, we left for Junction 8 for a Shrek 3 movie screening (it was ok, but I found some parts not funny leh, you can go to liamxicorner.blogspot.com or better yet, goofyscrewball.blogspot.com for a more indepth review) and also made plans to go back to the kittens again after the show for their dinner as well as trying to get the mom to eat something (she wasn't at the scene when her kittens were eating the pellets).

You can imagine how dark it was at 8 - 9 plus as we took a can of wet cat food and went around again trying to find the mother. We eventually located her (we recognised the slightly drooping nipples from all her nursing) near an amphitheatre and proceeded to give her the food - all the time remaining at a safe distance away in order not to scare her off.

After an hour or so, we finally filled the mom up as she scampered back into her drain home, bewildered that two humans actually came and fed her - to her fill no less.

The Wife wanted to come back again on Sunday so I agreed but I could only meet her later in the day.

***

The very next day, Sunday, got me up really early as there was a Magic tournament which I decided to join after a three month rest from burnout. Didn't do too well, lost all my games since I am almost outta touch and it showed.

Disgusted I dropped after the fourth loss and join the Wife at Bishan St 22, blk 288 (well, if you really wanna know where the cats are) to try to find the strays, mother and all.

Same cycle again, (Darn, the kittens and mom are HARD to find, I tell you), before the Wife managed to find the mom resting under some bushes. We fed her again and this time, it's nice to see that the mom has some glimmer of recognition although she is still relatively guarded. She even planned to give us the slip after the feeding by appearing to run off (when in fact she just ducked back into the bushes, there were blind spots, you see.) and then just as we were given the false trail, try to run back to the drain which was in the opposite direction.

See, cats are damn smart.

I refuse to give in to the ruse and went back to where we were at the feeding spot and sure enough, was in time to see her failed escape attempt. Not that she bothered as she just ran back to her drain home.

We followed back to the Vietcong bunker and lo and behold, saw the other three kids.

With some effort, I pried open the drain grating and placed some food in. Almost immediately the grey kitten (which we name as Greyee), the black-white one (Xiao Hei Bai) and the black one (Charcoal) swooshed out and had a go at the food although Charcoal was too engrossed with swiping at a straw in the drain to eat much and ate it did in the end.

We spent about an hour there, finishing our food stock while looking at the kittens and generally feeling good about it. Of course, the mother was there as well, and it's as if she really does recognise us coz she didn't hiss as much when we were putting the food in. The kittens did hiss a little in their small kitten-ish way but no biggie.

They have been taught to fear after all.

Oh well, that was how we spent the weekend and as for the cats, we plan to feed them for as long as we could because goodness knows how long they must starve otherwise.

No wonder strays do not live for so long. If it's not a rival cat, fleas or unsavory living conditions, it's hunger that will do them in.

The Wife even coomented that our very own TPY community cats were more showy and unafraid of people compared to the Bishan ones which undeniably ALL exhibited that same look of wary cautiousness when coming face to face with our two-legged kind.

I whimsically replied that maybe Bishan has more cat abusers (remembering that my friend who lives in Sin Ming had his cat brutally kicked to death, and the cat even had the strength to stagger home and struggled for days before biting it).

At the risk of making this post sounding more and more like a pet activist one, I only have one true wish - that Singapore of the tomorrows can be a more pet-friendly place.

After all, you are only as human or "First World" as how you treat those around you, especially those who are of a lower level in society or those have no means to defend themselves.

And this definitely does NOT just apply to humans.

The Prince and the Pauper

Sigh, the richer sibling seems to look down on the poorer one simply because the former is bringing in the dough.

Why the hate? Why the belittlement? Why the intense, merciless ribbing and competition? Aren't the both of you under the same roof? Can't you spare a thought for the less well-off sibling and try to help her regain her feet?

It's hard I know.

Or maybe I am just a sickening romanticist.

Scream 07 & Shiraz Belly Dancer

Celebrated Grace's birthday over the last weekend with a short fling with the belly dancer at Shiraz over in Clarke Quay after which according to Mona, I 'sprawled dead' at Grace's home while the 3 girls + 1 very skilled male (Sean, who was the big winner as I was told) mulled over a game of mahjong.

However, before I went down to Shiraz, I was a at Scream 07, a party bash celebrating My Paper's first year. T'was my first time in Cafe Del Mar but already it has made quite an impression on me.

Maybe we can go there sometime?

Anyhow, some random pictures of the twin events... (with some Jonathon Leong mugs, Mona enjoy!)

After bidding a mental goodbye to sweet Choy, I made my way to Shiraz around 9 plus, where I encountered a nubile belly dancer (who somebody told me look like a fleshier version of Daphne "Singapore Idol drop-out" Khoo) who grabbed me up to dance with her. (Grace has the picture though).

Nubile Belly Dancer: You want me or the cake??

Grace: Eeek!

To the Moonies: here's looking forward to the next gathering. Take care ya'll!

Ravenclaw!

Order of the Pheonix is coming!!

I cannot wait!

Maybe we can dress up for the movie outing?

But anyway, here's a little test I did about which House I belong. I think I did it before and the result is still the same, I am a certified Ravenclaw. Which House do YOU belong to?

Want to Get Sorted?
I'm a Ravenclaw!

What is your melody?

Ok, got this from the malay boy's blog, some little boy called Liamxi lah.

Anyway, I think I got more better sounding songs than him. What can I say? August is a great month to be born in - as I am sure Nani would concur.

LOL :D

Here's the list of all the number ones according to Billboard Magazine on August 6th 1980 to 2006:

THE 1980s

1980 ... "Magic" by Olivia Newton-John
Never heard of this but Olivia is that famous lady from Grease so yea, I am not completely clueless, LOL!

1981 ... "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield
Nice song which I still hear on Class95, but not my fave.

1982 ... "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor
Now we are talking, Rocky Balboa+Rocky training videos+this song= GYM TIME!!! Highly inspirational.

1983 ... "Every Breath You Take" by The Police
Another smooth track which gets remade last couple of years ago by a black guy I cannot put a name to.

1984 ... "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker, Jr.
Marshmellow Man and Rick "Moron"-is!!!! 'Nuff said.

1985 ... "Shout" by Tears for Fears
Ah, I know this group but I really prefer "Everybody Wants To Rule The World"

1986 ... "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera
Cheesy but I lap it up anyway.

1987 ... "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2
Gah, no recollection of this song.

1988 ... "Roll with It" by Steve Winwood
Ditto.

1989 ... "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx
Cool song with an equally cool, if not memorable singer. This is a song still sung in K-Boxes and bathrooms all over Singapore today.

THE 1990s

1990 ... "Vision of Love" by Mariah Carey
Ok, I concede, MC's great in this song.

1991 ... "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" by Bryan Adams
Another one of my MEGA tracks!!! I LOVE Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves ALOT and also this song. Bryan Adams is just the icing.

1992 ... "This Used to Be My Playground" by Madonna
Slow track from the pointy-bra-ed one which is nice to listen to, if you are in the mood.

1993 ... "Can't Help Falling in Love" by UB40
Raggae funk, this is when I was in the heady Sec 1 days.

1994 ... "Stay (I Missed You)" by Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories
I was listening to Four Heavenly Kings during this period, so english pop was a total blackout for me here.

1995 ... "Waterfalls" by TLC
Here also.

1996 ... "Macarena [Bayside Boys Mix]" by Los Del Rio
Argh, August 6th was also plagued with the malady that was Macarena and that vile plant, the Lemon Tree, let this day not be forgotten.

1997 ... "I'll Be Missing You" by Puff Daddy & Faith Evans featuring 112
Niceeeeeee.

1998 ... "The Boy Is Mine" by Brandy & Monica
I love RnB so this is also a keeper although I like Brandy's vocals more.

1999 ... "Genie in a Bottle" by Christina Aguilera
You know I want to rub you the right way. LOL!

THE 2000s

2000 ... "Incomplete" by Sisqó
Chinese Pop invaded again, so second blackout occurred about here.

2001 ... "Bootylicious" by Destiny's Child
Who can seriously say no to Destiny's Child songs and the airplay this song got bordered on the insane.

2002 ... "Hot in Herre" by Nelly
Hot track literally, I was in camp then and there was this regular
in my bunk who goes around in nothing
but his briefs singing this song complete dance moves!!!
Traumatic but it made this song stick in mind ever since.

2003 ... "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé featuring Jay-Z
C...C...Cannot...Shake....That...Quiver...Quivering...
B...B...Booty...F...From....m...M...My...Mind....
Beyonce, You are one hot chick. Jay-Z, you suck.

2004 ... "Slow Motion" by Juvenile featuring Soulja Slim
Nice song lah, but I seriously cannot remember this liao.

2005 ... "We Belong Together" by Mariah Carey
Yet another MC number one, not really my favorite but it's radio-friendly.

2006 ... "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado featuring Timbaland
WAHHHH!!!! I love this song. Nelly's a full-blooded MILF and this song just oozes "SEXY" all over it.

Honorable Mentions (My personal Number Ones):

1980s
Diana Ross' "Land Before Time" song, cannot remember the title.

1990s
Any shite from the Pet Shop Boys.

2000s
Any track from Justin Timberlake's "Justified" album.

...And Many Bloody Happy Returns!

Happy Birthday Grace and also to you, Meiting.

This entry is not long but that don't mean it's not heartfelt. Enjoy your hatching day, girls. :)
