Moonies and the Chocolate Factory
The Moonies met for a badminton session yesterday and I got on down to meet them since they were just playing at Toa Payoh and I have just finished my gruelling driving lesson. There we were resting and talking craploads of inanity when Mona just had to flash us (goddammit don't take it wrongly)...a Golden Ticket that allows her to go into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory! Not that it's a real place though but the Golden Ticket serves as a rather well-made piece of premiere admission ticket to the new Tim Burton directed, Johnny Depp helmed movie adapted from the well known Roald Dahl classic (well, at least not to Ismail who had no idea what the story was about thereby exposing his lack of a childhood :P)
This led to some madcap phototaking since the Golden Ticket cannot be kept (it has to be given up just before you enter the cinema to watch the show, all premieres are like this...which brings the question of why bothering to make such nice-looking pieces of paper when they have to be given back?? The mind boggles.)

We got the Ticket!!

I got the Ticket too!!

Mona shamelessly shows off her prize...

Ain't She Hot?
Alba is no longer the word that conjures to mind pictures of stuffy, ugly watches for uncles (I used to own one though, sheesh) but of sizzling screen siren Jessica Alba. Woot, ain't she hot??!

Bedroom eyes...

A yummy addition to the beach!

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope goes local!!
During one of my inane Net surfing moments today in the office, I chanced upon this hilarious web comic spoof of Lucas' SW Episode IV. Those who have watched the movies will love this. Here it is:

Jason Goes 3G!!!!
Yay! Today was a happy day indeed. Went for a Nokia Imaging Academy held at the MICA building (for the uninitiated, MICA building was formerly the MITA building, you know, the one with those coloured windows??) this morning and really enjoyed the event thoroughly.
The whole show was made out to be some sort of classroom setting where the gathering journalists were supposed to be little kindergarten children coming to learn about digital photography, in this case, Nokia's brand of digital imaging (although it also acted like a soft launch of the upcoming N90 model). The whole setting was made to be like a classroom setting complete with round tables you see in nurseries where 5 - 6 children sit in circles as well as bottles of Yakults and bowls of peanut M&Ms (Mona will love this).
Well, to cut the story short, after being taught the basics of digital photography and its principles, we children were sent out to take 6 different photos of varying themes using Nokia's camera phones (I got to use the 6681 model while others actually used the N90, damn).
Anyhow, after we took the shots, we were supposed to report back to 'class' and upload them unto Moblog and ultimately print one photo that we think was the best we took and pin it up on the board at the back of the classroom as a display of our understanding of digital photography basics and rules.
Now here's the biggie: the top three pictures will win the latest Nokia camera phones, the first prize being the N90, second the 6680 and the 6681 model being third prize. Mine was a picture called "Reflection" and was selected as the second best by a board of judges made up the PhotoI's (a photo magazine) editor, Kelvin Tong (a local film director) and Nokia's regional boss. I was also one of the few journalists who bothered to film a short clip with the phone entitled "Art on the Move" which featured kids running around enjoying the numerous paintings and sculptures in an exhibition happening at MICA right now, I was lucky too that there was a primary school excursion group today as well.
The point is, I bloody made off with a 6680 just like that!! Can you imagine my euphoria?? It's doubly sweet coz I recently lost my phone and so fast I got one back, and a better model at that too!! Not to mention having my amateur photo praised by people like Kelvin Tong and John Cosgrove (the editor of PhotoI and a renown digital photographer). Thank God sia! I remembered I really liked the phone when I was reviewing it and feeling sad when I had to return it to the PR agency then...glad I get to keep one for good now. And it also means that I can engage in video calls since the phone is 3G, so fun can.

Sidenote: Maybe I should go take up photography lessons, eh...
Anyhow, during the event, I managed to bump into this girl who was previously from MCM class of 2000. She's Tamara and I am not sure if anyone of you Moonies know her. But anyway, she recognized me first (which was kinda wierd coz I was damn low profile back then and I have barely spoken ten words to her last time). We exchanged some updates and namecards and I hope to see her again. It's good to bump into coursemates every now and then and come to realise that the media industry here in Singapore is so darn small.
Later I went for the another launch but this time it's for the World of Warcraft which is a really kickass Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game (or MMORPG for short) from Blizzard, you know, those guys who made Diablo and Starcraft?

Lucky I never buy the last time, phew...being in the media has its perks I must say.
Anyhow, the media goodie bag consisted of a full version of the game complete with a 30 day free play ticket (worth around 80 bucks and to think I actually had the intention to buy it last time, lucky never gotten around to doing it or this time I will dwee[heartache]...). How cool is that? Now I just need to find kahkis to roam the world of Azeroth with me and kill some monsters. Anyone interested? Me probably taking Taurens if playing as the Horde or the Night Elves if playing the Alliance...
So this was it, my lucky 21st of July when I made at least 500 bucks worth of goodies (the 6680 is now 400 plus with line...)

I NEED a donation!
Short of squeezing my face to yield a drop of crocodile tear a la Cao Qi Tai on your regular NKF shows, I am sad to say that I am also in need of a donation. The recent NKF debacle has made me sit up and realise that well, well, well, ain't I the smart one who has not donated to that organisation which had 30 years worth of reserves but say that they only have enough for one.
All through the years, I have received calls from the above organisation who have bugged me to no end to donate to their worthy cause. Now am I glad I didn't.
The only people I feel sorry for are those folks with kidney problems under the NKF but I shouldn't worry since those well-dressed mofos have enough anyway to sustain them for another 3 decades. I was telling my colleague a few days ago that give Singaporeans another two or three years and this will blow over and whaddaya know, maybe by then the NKF shows will still be in full force with that fugly Cao at its helm.
By the way, I really hate that Cao Qi (bye?) as the compere, I just cannot explain why. His voice just grates on my nerves and his antics, far from savory. Or perhaps it was from his "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" days when he always clogs up the show with his inane banter and lame-ass actions. Blech.
Well, then back to my first point about me needing donations. Maybe all I really need is a new job. Month in and out I am always in fiscal dire straits and adding to the money woe is the fact that I have misplaced my mobile phone (it couldn't happen at a more opportune time, man) while I was taking a cab to an event for a printer launch.
Now I wished I have won the printer during the lucky draw so that I can sell it immediately and get a new phone. What's even more heart-wrenching is the fact that the phone is a gift from Jo. Although it's not a very costly phone (I thank God for that on hindsight), it still means a lot to me for what it's worth in sentimentality. Argh, I just wished I wasn't so careless but oh well, the poor phone's gone now...undoubtedly in the hands of another pimply, no-good scum who probably will sell my phone for what little cash it can fetch. I want to cry but I cannot.
Oh maybe I should since that's what those NKF patients did and after all the tearjerker moments, the calls shot up.
Ok so I am mean, but I am angry and angry people need carthasis. Angry at what, you may ask? Angry at myself and God knows who or what else. My life is just a mess.
On a sidenote, to all those who happens to read my blog, I am a writer who wants to try his hand on anything that will let me travel, eat, play and write about it. Actually, I specialise in lifestyle sort of articles and also do not mind to dabble into novel writing since that's what I do for my job now. So if you see this, please please contact me by leaving something on my tagboard.
Short of giving me cash donations, I think that's the next best way you folks out there can help me.

Classic song
Here's a classic song that always sends that shiver down my spine every time I hear it, not because that the song is scary or anything but rather it brings to mind the video where it displays a lot of the missing children who were never found. I wonder where they are right now if they are still even alive.
Haha, I don't even know why I am rambling about this, but anyhow here's the song I am talking about.
Call you up in the middle of the night
Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a slow torch burning
I was a key that could use a little turning
So tired that I couldn't even sleep
So many secrets I couldn't keep
Promised myself I wouldn't weep
One more promise I couldn't keep
It seems no one can help me now
I'm in too deep
There's no way out
This time I have really led myself astray
CHORUS
Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here no there
Can you help me remember how to smile
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on earth did I get so jaded
Life's mystery seems so faded
I can go where no one else can go
I know what no one else knows
Here I am just drownin' in the rain
With a ticket for a runaway train
Everything seems cut and dry
Day and night, earth and sky
Somehow I just don't believe it
CHORUS
Bought a ticket for a runaway train
Like a madman laughin' at the rain
Little out of touch, little insane
Just easier than dealing with the pain
Runaway train never comin' back
Runaway train tearin' up the track
Runaway train burnin' in my veins
Runaway but it always seems the same
- Runaway Train, Soul Asylum

Random boredom
Am down with conjunctivitis (or sore eyes for some of you) yesterday and on MC today, well, look at it this way Jason, you got a long weekend.
It's been some time I have blogged and that's because I have been a sloth, laziness does not maketh a blogger I say. Anyhow, been reading all the Moonies' blogs now that I am at home as well as Jo's and discovered some interesting quizzes, maybe I should try it out.
So here's one.
Hmm...96% of going to Heaven eh? Not bad, I would say. :D
PS: Just discovered that I do not have the Redang pics in my PC, doh, so putting them up has got to be delayed for just the little while.
